Your Questions About Paralympics Uk

Carol asks…

How do you feel about the USA’s relatively poor performance so far at the Paralympics, 3rd after China and GBR?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Summer_Paralympics_medal_table

Shouldn’t the USA, with 5 times the population of the UK, be doing somewhat better?

Does this say anything about the status and aspirations of disabled people in the United States?

Pip answers:

They have no respect disabled athletes. American paralympians have to pay out of their own pockets to get to Beijing.

John asks…

Is it easier to get medals at the Paralympics than the Olympics?

I’m not being out of order to disabled people; I think its amazing that the UK has 82 medals, of which 38 are gold. I just wanted to know, is it easier to get a medal at the Paralympics, than it is at the Olympics?
From those answers, I’m going to jump to the conclusion that our UK athletes are just better than everyone elses 😉

GO UK!

Pip answers:

There are more medals available in the Paralympics, for Example in the Olympics, there is just one 100m final, but in the Paralympics, there is more because of all the disabilities people have.

More people tend to win multiple Golds at the Paralympics though.

Nancy asks…

Why is the word “disabled” offensive in an event called the paralympics?

Pip answers:

The internet has become too politically correct. What’s all this nonsense about disabled cookies? In my day they were called broken biscuits.Am I on my own in wondering why there are disabled parking bays at the ice skating rink? I would be promoted if I worked at the benefit fraud office
If you park illegally in a disabled bay and get clamped. Surely your car is then disabled, meaning that it is legally parked. I’ve got nothing against disabled people, I’ve even got one of their stickers on my car and we bought my brother a new wheelchair yesterday. He isn’t disabled it just gets us better seats at football matches. We should all be ashamed for making all these jokes at the expense of the disabled!

They can’t even stand up for themselves.Have a great Day………..

Susan asks…

What do you think of the article from Special Olympic to Paralympics?

Pip answers:

I think it’s a good thing to show people what we can do.
