Your Questions About Months Of Summer In The Uk
A summer month in Ireland or UK training in paediatrics, dermatology or psychiatry?
I’m a medical student in Spain and I want to spend a summer month in a hospital training in one of the specialities mentioned above. How can I do that? Any contacts? Last year I ask for a similar information and you really helped me to prepare my elective. I hope you can help me again this year. Thanks a million
I would suggest creating a kind of template letter explaining your background and what it is you want to do in each place, then search for derm, pediatrics, or psychiatry schools in these countries and e-mail a lot of professors asking for suggestions or help. In each e-mail simply edit the name of the country/univ you’re e-mailing wherever it’s written in the template…as well as the area you’re interested in studying; this way the person you’re e-mailing thinks you’re specifically interested in their program. It may take a couple of hours but sending out 20-30 e-mails will get you responses from people who either know contacts, can help you personally, or are not able to help you at this time. I have been searching for an internship abroad this summer in several different countries at a PT clinic for a couple of months and this is what I did. I found it very useful and I eventually got what I needed, it takes some time at first but the more you send the more responses you will get. Also have make a template e-mail if they ask for more info on what it is you’re looking for, I found that I needed to do that because I got sick of repeating he same thing, haha. You will get the hang of it after getting a few responses and see that you’re writing the same thing over and over! Best of luck and be patient!
Do most UK universities offer summer classes?
I’m an American applying to the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield for my Bachelor’s (and Master’s… and PhD…) in anthropology and archaeology. Because that’s going to require so much schooling, I’d rather get it done quickly. I’d be willing to stay in the UK over the Summer months if it meant that I could take more courses. Getting my Bachelor’s degree in less than the standard 3 years would be amazing.

Will I need a WorkVisa to work in UK for 3 months?
Hi, I plan on visiting the UK this summer for 3 months, I am 20 years old. I am wanting to get a job there so I dont have spend thousands of dollars on this trip. Will I be able to get a work visa if I have no Important trade skills or no higher education above my high school diploma. Do you think I should try working illegally?
Okay then guess there goes my chances of experiencing UK this summer, well guess theres always. exchange student program.
Where are you coming from? If you are a citizen of the European Economic Area then you do not need a work permit. However if, as I suspect, you are an American then you will be unable to get a work permit because you will either have to be educated to a minimum of a Master’s Degree or have a skill that is in high demand here to even be considered eligible for one. If you come here as a visitor you are forbidden to even look for work, and if you do you are breaking the law in this country and will be leaving yourself open to being deported where you would find that you would be excluded from re-entering the UK for a minimum period of around three years…this would be stamped in your passport which would cause you problems if you wanted to go to any other part of the EEA (EU)…
If you do come here, when you get to immigration if you cannot show that you have enough money to fund your stay here you will not even be allowed into the country…
We also have in the UK alone around 3 million people who are looking for work, with many millions more in the rest of the EEA. Anyone here who employs a person illegally leaves themselves open to a fine of £10,000 and a probable prison sentence, so why would they employ anyone illegally when there are so many people legally looking for work…
Why didn’t the H1N1 virus go away last summer?
When the virus first broke out in Spring, scientists were saying that the virus would go away and come back in the Fall. But the virus never went away, the number of people infected with this virus exploded during the hot summer months. In the UK, the number of flu cases in July were higher than the winter flu season. If the virus survived the summertime, imagine how much more quickly it’s going to infect people in a few months, when the weather starts to turn colder, and plus, we’ll have the regular flu as well.
You have the flu all year round, the only difference is usually in the numbers of people who catch it. The majority of the population has no innate immunity to this version. The summer is high vacation time, and folks take off to strange and exotic places where they are more likely to come in contact with the virus. People living where the weather is cold take a mid-winter break, to fly to warmer climates. They all fly cooped up on airplanes, stuffed into tour buses, and spend the time on crowded beaches and other tourist spots. Then they bring the virus back home to share. It’s not really that great a mystery, when you get down to it. Hopefully by the time winter hits, the majority of the population will be immunized and protected better, from all the versions of the flu floating around out there. About all I can think of good coming out of all this panic is that maybe finally folks will take all the versions of flu a little more seriously and give it more respect.
Can I open a US bank account from the UK (to use when I holiday in the US this summer)?
I’m holidaying in the US for a month this summer.
I currently live in the UK and so when I go over there, I’m very aware that I’m going to have to pay a fee everytime I wish to take money out an ATM or bank.
Is there anyway of setting up a US bank account, to use just while i’m in the US this summer, to avoid this hassle and extra cost?
